Number Plates law harmonised

The laws governing the supply and display of number plates was harmonised across the whole of the u.k. this month. Previously N.Ireland and Scotland were not fully included and drivers in England and Wales could circumvent legislation by buying from traders in these provinces. Now it is an offence to display or even supply number plates which do not comply with the legislation governing fonts, backgrounds,spacing,borders,flags and materials. The supplier must also put his/her name and postcode on each plate and also obtain proof of identity and entitlement to the registration number concerned fron the purchaser of the number plates.
