Do A Lot Of Nurses Do This?

Which is more common, for someone to decide they want to be a nurse and go to college and get a BSN degree, or for someone to start near the bottom, maybe as a CNA, and work their way up one step at a time? I am an LPN, and I want to get my BSN now. I am looking for a good school to attend to get one of the LPN to BSN degrees that are sometimes offered. Do a lot of nurses do this? How many schools offer this degree? I am hoping I have a few good ones to choose from.
